Kensington and Chelsea residents! Do you have an interest in musical history, want to learn research and interview skills, or just feel like doing your bit for Queen and country by helping a fellow Royal Borough?

If so, then Kingston-based charity, Creative Youth are on the look out for volunteers to help explore the rich, varied history of music in their borough.  While we have Notting Hill Carnival and the sounds of The Clash and Pink Floyd, Kingston has Decca Records, the jazz music of the war-time US army station, the Folk Barge and the launch of Ziggy Stardust.

Creative Youth are looking for a team of volunteers to research, record and transcribe the stories across May, June and July to contribute to –  and accompany – a public exhibition.

Full training in oral history recording will be provided, as well as travel expenses and a £15 subsidence per day.

For more information, or to register your interest, do contact Jarek Zaba, Heritage Researcher and Facilitator at kingstonrpm@creativeyouthcharity.org / 07786 265992.
