If you’ve popped down to Kensington High Street you would have noticed the transformation of the former Commonwealth Institute into a space fit for one of the world’s leading contemporary design museums – and now The Design Museum will open its doors on 24 November.

The new space will give the museum three times more space than its previous location at Tower Bridge and create a new centre for learning, a 202-seat auditorium and a dedicated gallery to display its permanent collection, which will be accessible to the public free of charge for the first time.

The Design Museum’s collection tells the history of mass production, from the manufacturing innovations of the nineteenth century up to the digital revolution of the last few years. The collection spans all aspects of design including architecture, fashion, furniture, product and graphic design, digital media and transport.
