The Design Museum has relocated to High Street Kensington where it will open on 24 November at the site of the former Commonwealth Institute building.

The Museum is recruiting now for visitor-facing volunteer roles and is particularly keen to involve local residents. So, if you have a friendly, welcoming personality, enjoy working with people, have excellent spoken English and would like to be part of an exciting new experience, please get in touch, preferably before 18 October.

The volunteer roles available include:


Deliver excellent customer service, provide information and handouts, orientate people and supervise an activity table.

Library volunteer

Help set up the new library and its procedures; assist the public, students and museum curators with their enquiries & research. An interest in contemporary design is desirable. 

Family Activity volunteer

Set up and supervise design activities for families on the last Sunday in the month


Speak to local organisations, shops and community centres and deliver leaflets to raise awareness of the museum at various locations in west London.
