Join The Contemporary London at Space W10 (W10 4RA) for the opening of British painter Jonny Green’s solo exhibition, Bad To The Bone on Thursday, 12 May 6.30pm-9pm.
Jonny studied at the Royal College of Art in the 90s and was offered a record deal during art school. Following a 15 year career in music and 5 studio albums, Green has recently returned to painting and his work has been exhibited at The Royal Academy of Art, Saatchi Gallery and Barbican among many others.
The exhibition will be showcasing brand new oil paintings and releasing Jonny’s first ever limited edition print.
Green makes miniature sculptures from everyday materials which he then photographs and then paints them with oil. Once painted, his objects are transformed from flawed and abject and take on a monumentality and depth not originally present. Green’s works bring to mind ideas of displacement, otherness, metamorphosis, and the abject and the vulnerable.
The exhibition runs from 12 May – 11 June. There is also a free artist talk on 25 May, 7.30pm with Jonny in conversation with curator Frances Woodley.
