Do you have, or are you looking for, the skills and experience to support children on the autistic spectrum on a one-to-one basis? If so, FOCUS West London are looking for Volunteer Therapists for their Saturday Club.
FOCUS West London’s Saturday Club opens in May 2016 for its first 10 week term and then again for their second term beginning in September/October 2016.
Volunteer Therapists will support children on the autism spectrum to develop social skills by working with a designated child, building a rapport, and helping the child to develop basic skills such as looking, listening and imitating, as well as more complex skills.
Volunteer Therapists will be trained as an ABA tutor, and closely supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst. There will be three days of initial training, and hands-on training given at each Club session. It will be a valuable insight into a great career pathway, perhaps as a precursor to applying to one of the many Applied Behaviour Analysis courses offered at various UK universities.
Potential candidates must be willing to volunteer with us to support autistic children at the following days/times:
Each Saturday from 7 May – 16 July 2016 (excluding 28 May) from 9am to 4pm, plus attend training days; and/or
Each Saturday from 1 October until 10 December (excluding one Saturday in the half-term 22-29 October) from 9am to 4pm, plus training days on 17, 24 and 25 September.
