Kensington Mums have turned 4! And to celebrate, we caught up with Dina Maktabi, Founder and Editor to find out more about the Mums and their future plans…

Could you give us a flavour of what Kensington Mums is all about?

Kensington Mums is a community online support network, keeping Mums in the loop with the local scoop. We cover everything including what’s on in London with kids and also organise our own ‘mumthly’ meet ups for Mums to connect.

What was the inspiration to create Kensington Mums?

Kensington Mums was created in 2011 with the aim of sharing knowledge and experiences and helping my yummy Kensington Mums learn from one another. After having my second baby, the idea of having a bigger support network came to mind and in a sense created a passion in me to help mums outside my group of friends.

It occurred to me that mums really need a support network so that they won’t feel alone in a haze of milky delight during the first few months of motherhood.

Network support for mums – as the name suggests – supports mums in their journey of motherhood and of course parenting. Sharing tips, swapping advice and ideas are all important in a life of a mother who wants the best for her children.

What has been the biggest highlight to date?

The biggest highlight I would say was in 2013 with the Kensington Mums Motherhood Exhibition, it was empowering to see so many Mums gathered together from all walks of life, all sharing their own motherhood journey. We even had celebrity Mum of three Tamara Beckwith take part. Since then, we have taken the exhibition online and have interviewed the likes of Liz Earle andAnnabel Karmel just to name a few.

What are the next exciting plans for Kensington Mums?

We have recently celebrated our 4th blog anniversary with a dinner in Holland Park and held our Family Christmas Fair at the Kensington Town Hall, which had over 40 exhibitors, a pamper corner for Mums and lots of entertainment to keep littles ones busy! Stay tuned for what we have planned for 2016!
