The Friends of Brompton Cemetery are inviting all to their Annual Open Day at the beautiful 175-year-old Grade I listed Brompton Cemetery, one of Britain’s oldest garden cemeteries, on Sunday, July 19.
Entry is free and from 11am-5pm there will be activities for all to enjoy for all of the family, including:
- Guided tours of the Cemetery (every hour from 12 noon, £5)
- A tour of the Cemetery’s catacombs – a rare opportunity only on this one day of the year (every half hour from 11.30am, £3, not suitable for children under 12)
- Exhibitions of birds of prey, a vintage Edwardian hearse, an Apiary and fine art from Heatherley’s.
- Children’s activities of Victorian hat making and face painting.
There will also be a number of local stalls full of Gothic clothing, natural cosmetics and glassware.
So, what better way to spend a Sunday than to tour a rather special site, here in Kensington and Chelsea? Brompton Cemetery can be found on Fulham Road, SW10 9UG.
