Offering an unexpected view on gardening, Garden State comprises photographic and sound installations exploring Israel’s suburban gardens, parks and public places.

Talk: Permaculture in Palestine – Saturday, June 13 @ 12pm, Free event

Alice Gray is a freelance permaculture teacher and designer. She has taught permaculture and environmental studies at Al Quds and Al Najah universities and co-founded an experimental permaculture farm (Bustan Qaraaqa). In addition, she has worked quite extensively with Bedouin communities in the Negev and West Bank, teaching permaculture and designing household gardens for food security.

Day Trip: Cambridge University Herbarium – Monday, June 15, 9am meet at The Mosaic Rooms, £25

Discover the internationally renowned collection of over 1 million pressed, dried and mounted plants from around the world at our special excursion to the Cambridge University Herbarium.

HerbariumNormally only open to the public by special appointment, The Herbarium at Cambridge University is a large and internationally significant collection of plant specimens, including most of the plants Charles Darwin collected on the HMS Beagle voyage.

During this trip a member of the Herbarium staff will give visitors a special guided tour of the collection, focusing specifically on displays illustrating the position of gardeners and plant hunters in colonial history. The guided tour will also offer the opportunity to see up close many plant treasures, including material collected by Charles Darwin, as well as fascinating original botanical illustrations and rare books.

Ticket holders will be picked up at The Mosaic Rooms at 9am and driven to Cambridge where they will tour the displays, returning to The Mosaic Rooms at 3pm for light refreshments and a tour with the curator of Corinne Silva’s photography exhibition Garden State.

A very special Palestinian supper club with Hana Haj Ahmad of Tatreez Cafe.

tatreez2-1024x768Hana Haj Ahmad will serve an authentic Palestinian meal with a ‘golden’ recipe that has been passed on from her grandmother, to her mother, to her, then to your feast table. The meal will be accompanied by Lebanese wine from the Bekka Valley. At this supper club she will introduce guests to the delicious variety of Palestinian food through common and differing culinary threads of the region
