The World’s End and Lots Road Big Local is gearing up for a BIG summer with the launch of their Big Local plan, the chance for local residents to quiz local services and welcoming everyone to join them in their vision of local people creating a strong and inclusive community.
What is the Big Local?
The Big Local is open to all residents of the area who want to get involved and make lasting, positive differences to their community. To help them with this, £1million is available along with support from national and local charities, organisations and public bodies – like the Council and TMO.
For over a year now, guided by Vanessa, the local Community Project Worker, the Big Local volunteers have been engaging and consulting with local residents – both young and old, through door-knocking, fun days, coffee mornings and open meetings – on how the money, combined with local activism, could improve the area.
From this, 4 main priority areas were identified:
- Jobs, Training and Enterprise
- Young People
- Community Events and Activities
- Green and Open Spaces
Under these headers, a number of brilliant ideas have already been suggested and incorporated into their plan, from homework clubs, business start-up assistance, intergenerational events and a community chest scheme. More details are provided in the soon-to-be-published plan, so now is the perfect time to get involved!
… and the work has already started! Following on from the City Living, Local Life supported Youth Question Time, the whole World’s End and Lots Road community are invited to Big Local Community Does Question Time, Thursday June 11, 6.30pm at Chelsea Theatre.
On the panel will be representatives from the TMO, Police, Community Safety, Chelsea Youth, Community Champions and local residents.
The event is free, with no registration required, but for any enquiries do contact Awadh Masood (firstname.lastname@example.org).
So, if you are a resident of the World’s End and Lots Road area in Chelsea, then get ready and get involved this summer!
