Cultivating K&C – a dedicated group of local community food growers will be selling locally sourced and made produce at Portobello Market on Friday 22nd May, 9.00am – 4.00pm.

Cultivating K&C, a community growing collective will be selling a range of locally grown fresh produce and premium quality preserves and condiments, including sweet chilli, carrot and cardamom and strawberry and elderflower jams, and infused oils and salts.

Cultivating Kensington and Chelsea Pop Up StallA small selection of seedlings will also be available to buy, including kale, tomatoes, peas, beans and salad leaves. Their mission is to bring fresh, seasonal, local food to as many people as possible.

Cultivating K&C was set up in April 2014 supported by Groundwork London and The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea with the mission of bringing fresh, seasonal, local food to as many people as possible. Over the last year plot holders have united over a common mission, to become a social enterprise, expanding their activities to selling their produce to support over 55 kitchen gardens and over 1000 local growers in the borough. The hard work has paid off and in September 2015 Cultivating K&C will formally become a Community Interest Company limited by guarantee.

Rukshana Ali, Groundwork’s Community Project Officer who has been working with Cultivating K&C over the last year said,

“Everyone has worked really hard to get to this point, we’re thrilled to be selling this quality locally grown produce at Portobello Market and looking forward to sharing our passion for locally grown food with the market customers. We’re hoping the whole community will support us, come along, say hello and sample the produce for themselves”.
