Cultivating Kensington & Chelsea is a brand new project based in the borough led by Groundwork London in partnership with kitchen garden plot holders, community groups, local businesses and the Council to develop and establish a food based social enterprise.
The idea behind the project is to build on the success of the community kitchen garden scheme. There are currently over 400 garden plots within 55 kitchen garden sites in the borough and the number is growing (no pun intended) year on year.
Cultivating K&C aims to provide locally grown produce to businesses and make and sell artisan products such as jams, preserves, infused oils, vinegars and salts. There are also plans to develop a small plant nursery.
It’s an exciting time for the project; we are on the verge of setting up as a company and on the lookout for volunteers to join our team.
