Returning for its ninth year, InTRANSIT Festival of Arts is an annual festival of site responsive art and performance from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The festival champions work that is immediate and relevant, encouraging the involvement of local people, public and private spaces and celebrating the changing urban landscape.
This is a call-out to artists and companies from any discipline, who are passionate about working outside of conventional theatre and gallery settings with new site or outdoor projects – particularly those that focus on North Kensington and its communities.
The theme for this year’s festival is Paradise on Earth, and we are looking for proposals that explore the interplay between ‘paradise’ and that which is more familiar here on earth. For instance, recognising and imposing pattern; hierarchical structures; the ideal society; and cultivation as perfection.
There is between £1,000 to £5,000 grant funding available to invest in an individual commission, and projects that already have, or could bring in, additional funding from other sources will be at an advantage.
InTRANSIT Festival of Arts 2015 runs from 19 – 28 June, taking place a month earlier than usual to allow for more involvement with schools, young people and higher education institutions.
Please send expressions of interest and direct any queries to firstname.lastname@example.org including links to any relevant work and an outline of additional funding sources you might be able to draw on.
The deadline for submissions is 12noon on Wednesday 4 March 2015. Expressions of interest will be shortlisted by 11 March. Shortlisted artists will then be given three weeks to further develop their idea before the final selection on Wednesday 1 April.
