Adaptive Yoga 1Yoga and living with disability? For most of us the two don’t seem to go together…

Well, time to change perspective!

Adaptive Yoga UK offer a couple of classes a week in The Royal Borough for people living with mobility disability, long term illness or recovering from surgery.

The classes are a chance to connect with your own body in a mindful way,  help ease chronic pain, improve range of movement and expand your social horizons.

Adaptive Yoga
“Through Adaptive Yoga I’ve found out how to befriend my body and all that it can do, and to stop battling against the things I can’t do”

Adaptive Yoga is a specialist approach based on classical yoga  postures modified with the use of props and assistants to the needs of students living with a disability to provide the experience of the pose, whatever the level of the participant, and to deepen the body-mind awareness.

Deepening the mind-body awareness can lead to a greater sense of freedom and ease in everyday activities for someone living with a disability.

Regular class members say that doing Adaptive Yoga has improved their muscle tone, range of mobility, balance and posture as well as better manage chronic pain  and stress, finding an increased sense of calm and a renewed desire to try new things.

Classes are on a drop in basis, carers can attend with you for free.
