by Lizzie from Sew Portobello.
Sew Portobello is a lovely little new project supported by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. We put local women who love textiles, design and sewing in touch with each other to sew and socialise. Check us out on http://www.sewportobello.com/
We have a small shop in 24 Portobello Green Arcade. Women make high quality goods from unusual fabrics to sell in the shop and sometimes on Portobello outside Garcia’s.
As so many locals have asked for sewing lessons, we’re also now running popular workshops, clubs and classes at a range of levels.
On Friday 5th December we have a Christmas stall and will also keep the shop open until 7 pm.
We will have new handmade stock including seasonal gifts – retro pinnies to glam up the Xmas cooking, mini stockings for chocolate coins or soap, lavender bags, sock toys and beautiful one-off scarves and stoles. We’ll have a lovely range of unique beautifully made cushions and bolsters, silk kimonos, beach wraps for winter holiday makers and really cute, sturdy corduroy play-clothes for young children to run around in the garden and park.
Please come along, buy a gift for a friend or for yourself, and meet out lovely makers too.
