The pride of the borough’s youth will be on parade in Holland Park in July to showcase the benefits of service in the cadets.

Taking part will be scores of young people from the police cadets, sea cadets and the army cadet force.

YOU PICFamilies will be warmly welcomed to come along and experience for themselves the thrills and spills of cadet life.

It’s all part of Youth Organisations in Uniform (YOU) Day which taking places on Saturday 5 July. Participating alongside the kids will be a contingent from The Royal Yeomanry and also the Army Outreach Team who will be bringing along an Assault Course and Climbing Wall and subjecting young people to strenuous challenge and competition with the Mayor of the Royal Borough on hand to award medals and trophies to the survivors.

But YOU Day won’t all be about the uniformed services; there will be also be other volunteering opportunities aplenty thanks to the presence of Team London and the Kensington and Chelsea’s Volunteer Centre.

Lady Elizabeth Arnold, the Representative Deputy Lieutenant for the Royal Borough and chair of the YOU committee said: “We all want to see our young people having fun, getting fit, making friends and learning new skills. There are few better ways of ticking all those boxes than signing up for a cadet force.

So I’m hoping YOU 2014 will attract new cadets and also more of the wonderful volunteers who make cadet life possible.”

The day begins at 10.30am to 3.30pm, on the Sports Field in Holland Park. For more information please contact RBKC’s Community Engagement Team on 020 7598 4633 or email
